I don't know about you, but I'm saddened to see people walking around like they are waiting for the end of the world. Today is a GREAT day! The sun is out, birds are singing and there is so much to be grateful for. I'm not trying to diminish the gravity of events that we are facing as a community, and for some of us, all too close to home, but I am trying to say that a positive mental outlook, a smile and even some bright colored clothing can change the way you feel.
Today, I put away my black yoga pants! As for my tops, I just realized how many black tops I own so I am working on that, but goodbye sad and melancholy colors, hello bright purple and red! If you have been to one of my classes it may appear that I wear the same pants every day, however, apparently I own too many of the same black pants than I care to admit. So, into a storage box they go. See ya later!
What can you do to bring some sense of cheer and happiness to your day? Maybe open the curtains wide? Throw on a fantastically obnoxious shirt that you would only wear to a luau or to a bowling party? Maybe have a stay at home dress-up day? A wacky hair day? I think we should have cocktail dress Thursdays, martini optional.
I need to take care of my own mental health as well as the mental health of those around me. If my bright purple pants give you cause to smile and for a split second feel a sense of normalcy, then you are welcome. What can you do to make yourself feel better or brighten the day of those you interact with virtually or otherwise?
Goodbye Drab, hello Fab!
